LEADERSHIP IS A CALL TO SERVE – OLUSOLA 2012 By Press Unit
The Founder of the African Refugees Foundation (REF), Ambassador Segun Olusola, has enjoined leaders to regard their positions as a platform to render selfless service to humanity rather than an opportunity for self-aggrandisement.
Ambassador Olusola made the commendation at the O’dua Royal icon Awards ceremony, organized by the Yoruba Council of Youths at the Ostra Hall, Alausa-Ikeja, in commemoration of the REF’s Founders’ 77th Birthday Anniversary.
Speaking as Chief Host at the conferment of awards on recipients ,which included the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), His Deputy, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulure, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oba Okunade Sijuade of Ile-Ife and the Lagos Waste Management Authority boss, Mr. Ola Oresanya;
Chief Olusola, commended the awardees for positively impacting their communities, sustaining good governance and a healthy environment.
Conferring the award of Atunluse O’dua of Yoruba land on Mr. Oresanya, the AREF Founder described LAWMA as “an agency which epitomizes the essence of a new Lagos of the Fashola Era”,Chief Olusola urge Nigerian leaders to emulate the quality of leadership offered Lagosians by Fashola and the other awardees at the ceremony.
Speaking during the cutting of the 77th birthday cake of Chief Olusola, the first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, expressed joy over the accomplishments of the celebrant, and wished him God’s blessings and long life.
Other recipients of the award included, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosu, Chairman Ikeja Local Government Area – Honourable Wale Odunlami.
Receiving his award, Mr. Oresanya commended the National President of the Yoruba Council of Youth, Chief Oladotun Hassan, for recognizing the efficiency and professionalism which LAWMA had brought in sustaining a healthy environment.He promised that the award will spur the Authority to deliver more dividends of democracy.
