To motivate its workers for effective service delivery in 2017 as well as improve staff welfare, Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) recently organised a productivity/merit award where workers who distinguished themselves in 2016 were rewarded with gifts and cash prizes.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of LAWMA, Mr. Adejokun Olumuyiwa commended workers of the Authority for job well done last year and urged them to even do more in enforcing effective cleanliness in the state.
The General Manager of LAWMA, Mr. Segun Adeniyi, on his own part eulogised members of staff for their diligence in the execution of their duties and charged them to do more in the current year. He added that the reward for hardwork is more work.

The President of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Afolabi Ajose, a Special Guest at the Award Ceremony, admonished LAWMA workers not to rest on their oars in the discharge of their duties. Comrade Ajose stated the need for the workers to leave a legacy that will speak for them even after they are gone. He however implored the Management to continue to play their role of taking good care of the workers.

Highpoint of the event was the Award of a Star Prize of a salon car to Mr. Simeon Oladeji, who won the Award of the best Operator of the year. Mr. Oladeji thanked management of the Authority for deeming it fit to acknowledge his dedication to duty in the preceding year and added that this novel gesture would inspire him to work harder.
The Grand Prize for the overall best staff went to Mrs. Kafayat Salami who was rewarded with a cash prize, with her picture to be mounted in a conspicuous position as the “Face of LAWMA” at the headquarters throughout 2017.
